Meditative Geometric Watercolor Series: Circles taught by Jinjer Markley

All levels- students 12 and up are welcome in this class
Give yourself a little dose of creative joy and meditative focus with this Geometric Art class.
Each class in the series will include hints on where to look for inspiration, technical advice on how to use tools to create precise designs, and a packet of design templates if you’d rather just trace and color. When math is necessary, you will get resources that do the math for you, if you prefer. Additionally, in each class, you’ll learn an easy meditative doodle to help you calm and center yourself any time, anywhere. Since we’ll be working in watercolor, you’ll also get tips for successfully working with watercolor paint.
THIS CLASS: CIRCLES
In this class, we’ll use a compass to create precise designs inspired by geometry, mandalas, and patterns from around the world. We’ll also learn a method for transferring designs to watercolor paper, and how to paint with precision.
- Supplies:
- A compass that adjusts size with a dial, such as this one.
- Scrap cardboard or matboard
- Watercolor paper (block, pad or loose sheets) in your preferred size
- Artists tape
- Sturdy board about 1 inch larger than watercolor paper on all sides that can be pierced, such as
- Flat cardboard (such as the backs of watercolor pads)
- Mat board
- Watercolor paint of any kind
- Tracing paper
- Hard or medium Pencil (ex: 1-4H or 1-2 HB) this includes ordinary school pencils
- Soft pencil (ex: 6B)
- Watercolor brush–round, angled, oval or flat size 6 -10
- Optional, but helpful: Lightbox
