2 Tube Watercolor Series: #1 People w/ Blue or Violet + Orange taught by Jinjer Markley
October 9, 2024 @ 10:30 am – 2:30 pm
IN PERSON with a 60 minute lunch break
Do you feel trapped by the compulsion to mix realistic colors, only to make paintings that seem muddy, dull, indecipherable, or discordant? As a painter you have the power to use color intentionally to make a painting clear, attractive and emotionally evocative. This is hard, but a great way to start building this skill is to start with just two tubes. ‘
This class includes some practical color theory, and a ton of nitty gritty painting advice on a variety of topics, such as palette options, analyzing a subject, using a paintbrush effectively, and so much more! Great for beginners or intermediate painters struggling with gaps in their basic painting knowledge, Also great for advanced painters who want a deep understanding of two new-to-them colors
Class 1: Portraits/people with blue or violet and orange
Beginners: Cobalt blue and pyrrol orange
Intermediate/Advanced: any blue or violet, and any orange

Materials for each session:
- Prepare a photograph to work from (see the title of each class for a category). For the botanical weeks you could also choose to draw from a live plant.
- For each class, bring two tubes of paint. See the class description for the general category. For beginners, I suggest a specific pair of paints. For intermediate or advanced painters, this is a great opportunity to experiment with new colors!
- Round watercolor brush, size 4-10.
- Cold press or hot press Watercolor paper , 8” x 10,” preferably on a block.
- Palette: Any palette with at least 10 wells total will do, but I prefer one of the following:
