Understanding Tonal Values in Watercolor taught by Cris Godoy

By the end of this workshop, participants will grasp the art of capturing tonal value in their urban sketches using watercolors. Through hands-on exercises, demonstrations, and feedback, they will gain a deep understanding of how to bring life and depth to their sketches.
Learning Goals
1. Understand Tonal Value: Learn the importance of tonal value in creating depth and dimension in watercolor sketches.
2. Learn Techniques: Discover techniques for mixing and applying vibrant and harmonious values in urban sketches.
3. Practical Application: Practice sketching from photos, applying tonal value changes to enhance different themes and color principles.
4. Boost Confidence and Creativity: Develop confidence and creativity in using watercolors to enhance sketches.
This 3-hour workshop will be divided into the following segments:
– Introduction to Tonal Value and Color (20 minutes)
– Watercolor Techniques Demonstration (30 minutes)
– Guided Sketching (90 minutes)
– Group Feedback and Individual Check-ins (40 minutes)
