Are you looking for an all inclusive painting experience? Wanting to try something new with versatility that’s approachable? Gouache is the answer!
Join Liz for a five week immersive class, focusing on color mixing, technique and fun! In this class you’ll set up a full palette of colors using Holbein’s 5 Color Mixing Set. You’ll gain experience applying gouache in different applications while rendering a variety of subject matter. After the first week of set up and practice each class will focus on a wedge of the color wheel allowing you to focus and master a full spectrum of colors! You’ll be amazed how far you can get with a limited palette and a little guidance. Fill pages of your favorite watercolor sketchbook, the perfect format for exploration. Inspiration images are available for in class work. Homework is part of this class, access to Pinterest will be useful. Some drawing experience is helpful.

Supply List: All class supplies are available for purchase at Wet Paint.
Holbein 5 Color Mixing Set G741
(Colors included in the set are: Primary Yellow G652*, Primary Magenta G651, Primary Cyan G654, Primary White G659, Primary Black G658
*an additional Primary Yellow may be helpful
2 Palette(s) : 12-well round palette, this can be porcelain or plastic-if you have a palette with 12 separate divisions that’s orderly and another shape that’s fine (we will be numbering our mixed colors). A second palette for mixing, this can be any shape. I use porcelain palettes mostly, even plates (white porcelain ones from Target)
Brushes: selection of your choice or your favorites. I recommend Princeton Snap Rounds 0, 2, 4, 6 and Princeton Select Pointed Filbert 2, 4 OR Princeton RealValue White Taklon 5pk (PB9174)
Sketchbook(s) Your favorite watercolor sketchbook will do! Make sure you have room on your page for swatching, notes and art! Here are some of my favorites: Stillman & Birn Alpha (softcover 8×10) 150gsm. Stillman & Birn Beta (softcover 8×10) 270gsm. Global Art Hand Book Watercolor Journal, both weights are good (5.5×8.25, 8.25sq or 8.25×10.5), Pentalic Nature Sketch 9×6 or 8.5×11
Optional Extras: HB, 2H pencil, Purple painters tape, small clear ruler, Kneaded eraser, Soft white vinyl eraser, paper towel, two or three jars for water

Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.
