Tara will demonstrate her plein air approach to sketching figures in watercolor with a split-primary palette of six colors and the Portable Painter’s Micro kit. She’ll share sketches and information about her upcoming destination art retreats, followed by time for browsing samples and/or supply shopping.

Tara Sweeney, an award-winning artist, illustrator and author based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, has been creating and teaching for more than forty years. Her prolific body of work includes watercolor painting, plein air sketching, book illustration and creative non-fiction. She teaches plein air travel retreats and studio watercolor workshops regionally and internationally. Tara holds signature status in the National Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Red River Watercolor Society, Minnesota Watercolor Society and Northstar Watermedia Society. She is professor emerita with Augsburg University department of Art and Design.
