Power of Color Series: Part 1-Learning to See Color Like An Artist taught by Jinjer Markley(Multi-Session)
March 4, 2025 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Multi-Session Class
Meets 2 Tuesdays, March 4+11 from 3-5pmIN PERSON
Part 1 – Learning to See Color Like An Artist: Before you can control color, you must learn to SEE it as it really is.
The instant you put two or more colors together, they interact: Sometimes boring colors enhance each other, while other, perfectly lovely colors look terrible together. Some colors seem to totally change once you add them to a painting or design. In the ‘60s, Josef Albers created a set of exercises designed to help you understand how this interaction of color works…if you could understand Josef Albers, that is! His instructions often make the exercises more confusing than illuminating.
In this book club/ workshop, we follow Horstman’s easy-to-understand instructions to do classic Albers experiments. Instructor Jinjer Markley will help you put each experiment into the context of Color Theory, and guide students to interpret our discoveries in ways that are applicable to our own creative practices.
This is part 1 of a 4 part series that unpacks the whole book. The next sessions will be in summer and fall.
Save The Date!
While it is not necessary to register for all sessions, you may find that you want to sign up for multiple sessions, so please note the following dates:

Materials:
A sketchbook: I like Fabricano ecoqua size A5
A pen or pencil for taking notes.
All other supplies are included, but the more colors we have, the better, so if you have a collection of colored paper, paint chips, old Pantone sets, etc, that you’re willing to share, please bring it!
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.
Ticket Instruction: You must choose a quantity to activate “get tickets”. To pay for a class registration with a Wet Paint gift card, please call 651-698-6431
