Gelli Prints from Nature taught by Molly Anthony

July 13 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

Gelli plates are a fun, easy way to create monoprints using only a few tools. In this class, we’re going to focus on how to incorporate nature into your printing process to make bold and stunning prints. We’ll begin with the gelli plate basics, including care and how to use them. Then we’ll explore different ways to use the plants, flowers, trees and weeds in your house and yard as masks and stencils on the plate to make a variety of beautiful monoprints.

Supplies to bring:

  • A gelli plate
  • A brayer
  • Any leaves or plants you’d like to use for printing

Some shared supplies will be available for class use.

Molly Anthony is a writer and mixed-media artist and is also the co-facilitator for the MN Visual Journal Collective (a free monthly group for artists of all mediums hosted by Wet Paint). She loves exploring art in all forms and sharing her ideas with others, but through the pandemic and family struggles she learned the importance of using those practices for self-care. In her work and her teachings, she strives to embrace imperfection, focuses on process over product and is constantly looking for new ways to be curious about the world around her.
