Encaustic and Photo Collage taught by Jodi Reeb

July 10 @ 10:00 am 4:00 pm

$95.00

IN PERSON

This exciting workshop will bring together several methods to create beautiful, layered artworks that can be both a photograph and a painting. We’ll explore color mixing to give you “Color Knowledge as Color Power” while developing imagery with a focus on using photographs as collage. This process involves printing photographs on lightweight tissue paper and embedding the images in the encaustic medium. We’ll also explore image transfers and simple methods to edit your images to combine with wax. Layers can be created by using oil sticks and paint to add pigment above or below the photographs for color and depth. There will be lots of one-on-one feedback and support to help you create a body of work, gain confidence, and expand your voice with encaustic.

Supplied for shared use in class: R+F encaustic paints, mediums and equipment- heated palettes, heat guns, etc. Students supply their own panels.

Provided for each student: 1 print on tissue, 1 – 9×12″ Encausticbord.

Please send an image to Jodi by June 28 (July 6th cut off) at jodi@jodireeb.com as a jpeg file. I’ll print the image as a  9×12″ on tissue paper for you to use during the workshop. The print size will match the 9×12″ Encausticbord panel I’m providing for the workshop.

Image specs:  High contrast with open or light/white areas  to add color and/or texture.  I will print in black-and-white for the image since you can add the color and create more of a painting versus just adding a layer of wax.  Please choose a photo you took yourself and are excited about making into a painting.

Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.

Ticket Instruction: You must choose a quantity to activate “get tickets”. To pay for a class registration with a Wet Paint gift card, please call 651-698-6431
