What does it mean to recognize and value your Creative DNA and evolve as an artist?
Images and Text comprise the basis of Thomas Gleaner’s work. His embrace of that potent combination, along with a strong curiosity about art materials and processes, is evident in his artwork, which range from artists books to monumental abstract works. Join us for a lively and enlightening presentation on his circuitous three-decade long career in art, some of the wisdom he has gleaned, and a discussion of some of his favorite art materials.

Bio: Thomas Gleaner has over 30 years experience as a professional artist, curator, and teacher. From 1999 – 2015, he served in administrative leadership positions at Davidson College, The Mint Museum, McColl Center, and the Mecklenburg County Public Art Commission. In spring 2015, Thomas was awarded the inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Arts + Architecture at his alma mater, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. For the past eight years, he has pursued his art full-time in St. Paul while earning an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art + Design in 2020.
His commissioned artworks have been featured at the North Carolina Museum of Art, The Halsey Institute for Contemporary Art, and The Turchin Center for the Arts at Appalachian State University. Numerous works are held in private and public collections including the Mint Museum, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the Weatherspoon Art Museum, Honeywell, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
