Sketchbook Gouache taught by Jinjer Markley
January 6 @ 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
IN PERSON CLASS
The semi-opacity of gouache is ideal for painting over sketches, and its creamy consistency and fast drying rate make it perfect for use in a sketchbook–even a sketchbook with thin pages!
In this class, we will briefly cover sketching techniques, then focus on the use of a limited palette of gouache paints to color in our sketches, learning how to use gouache and mix colors as we go. You can bring a sketchbook that already contains sketches you want to color, or just an idea in your mind!
A great follow up if you’ve taken Jinjer’s Find Your Flow: Freehand Drawing class.

Supplies: All class materials are available for purchase from our store Wet Paint Artists’ Materials. We are open 10-6pm daily at 1684 Grand Avenue in St. Paul, MN or online at www.wetpaintart.com.
- Sketchbook (any type, but my favorite is Fabriano EcoQua Sketchbooks)
- Color pencil (Make it a color that coordinates with your gouaches!)
- White gouache
- 2-3 gouache colors of your choice
- Note: You can bring gouache in pans or tubes. If you have gouache pans, a small tin works well to keep them clean, and also serves as a mixing palette.
- Small round brush OR small water brush
- Something to use as a palette, such as a lid.
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.
Ticket Instruction: You must choose a quantity to activate “get tickets”. To pay for a class registration with a Wet Paint gift card, please call 651-698-6431
