Paper Arts: Mixed Media Paper Dolls for Adults taught by Marie Olofsdotter

IN PERSON CLASS
Rediscover the creative play of paper dolls by crafting a doll made of mixed media materials. Participants are provided with the template of a figure to alter and personalize using decorative collage papers, ribbon, lace and more. The head, arms and legs are attached with brad fasteners to create moving parts. The paper doll can be fantastical, ornate, or grungy. It can be made to set an intention, or made to play with colors and shapes, a fun piece of art.
Things folks can bring: Collage papers, magazines, ribbon, lace, bits of fabric and fake fur.
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.

Marie Olofsdotter is a Swedish-born artist & poet who lives in Minneapolis where she paints, writes poetry, creates picture books, and works in mixed media. She has shared her love of creativity with young and old alike as a teaching artist for over 30 years. Marie’s accolades include a Minnesota Book Award, a Loft Mentor Series Award in Poetry, and grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board, the Jerome Foundation, and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council. Besides studies in art history, fine arts, and writing, Marie went to clown school, first in Stockholm, then California, and she swears by the Steve Linsner quote that says, “a clown is a poet who is also an orangutang.”
