Monthly Book Arts: Drum Leaf Binding taught by Bridget O’Malley

This versatile structure is great for photo books, 1 sided folios, and also for shaped pages. There is no sewing, therefore no visible thread inside sections- images can cross the centerfold easily.

Bridget O’Malley is a master papermaker. She worked from 1994-2017 as designer and production manager at Cave Paper Inc., a handmade paper mill specializing in natural-dyed flax papers.
In addition to teaching at MCAD, O’Malley offers book, paper, and print workshops around the country.
She studied papermaking with Timothy Barrett at the University of Iowa Center for the book research and production paper facilities. While there, she completed a five-year papermaking apprenticeship. Her artwork focuses on forms found in nature, and bringing those to life through the interplay of print, paper, and sculpture.
