Junk Journals, Commonplace Books & Scrap Diaries (Day long)taught by Molly Anthony
February 15 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
IN PERSON Full Day
Have you heard about the junk journal trend but aren’t sure what they are or what the difference is between art journals, junk journals, commonplace books and scrap diaries? Spend a day immersed in the world of paper and boundless creativity as we explore these different types of books and learn how to make them, how to use them and how to integrate them into our daily lives. We’ll collect papers that would otherwise be considered “junk” and turn them into a landscape where our creativity can run wild.

Supplies (some shared supplies will be available in class):
Notebook and pen for notes
Something sturdy to use as a cover for your book (I recommend a used Kraft mailing envelope or a carboard food box)
A collection of scrap paper (kids’ homework sheets, maps, scrapbooking paper, graph paper, book pages, etc.) – they do not all need to be the same size
Any supplies you want to use inside your book (collage, markers, etc.)
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.
Ticket Instruction: You must choose a quantity to activate “get tickets”. To pay for a class registration with a Wet Paint gift card, please call 651-698-6431

Molly Anthony is a writer and mixed-media artist and is also the co-facilitator for the MN Visual Journal Collective (a free monthly group for artists of all mediums hosted by Wet Paint). She loves exploring art in all forms and sharing her ideas with others, but through the pandemic and family struggles she learned the importance of using those practices for self-care. In her work and her teachings, she strives to embrace imperfection, focuses on process over product and is constantly looking for new ways to be curious about the world around her. You can find her artwork on Instagram at @mkranthony and on her website TheFoundArtWalk.com.
