Intuitive Drawing, Painting and Monotypes w/R&F Oil Pigment Sticks+Drawing Oils taught by Jodi Reeb

In this exciting one-day workshop, you’ll explore painting and drawing using R&F Oil Pigment Sticks and R&F Drawing Oils . These products offer the freedom to discover oil painting while building up many layers using experimental techniques. Oil Pigment Sticks and Drawing Oils allow you to draw or paint directly on the surface without brushes, palettes, tubes or solvents. We’ll also explore creating Gelli plate Monotype prints which has a unique form of expression to create unique marks and imagery that can only be achieved using stencils, masks and texture tools. Monotype is the most painterly method among the printmaking techniques and is often called the “the painterly print”.
You will discover new tools and ways of working to create rich works on paper and Ampersand Gessobord. All levels welcome.
Provided: most of the supplies (including one Gessobord panel)
Student should bring:
– Extra panels (Cradled Gessobord, or panels) or Arches oil painting paper(sheets cut down or pad), and absorbent paper such as Sumi-e, Masa, Thai Mulberry. We sell single sheets of Masa, and single sheets or packs of Thai Mulberry in white, unbleached, and various colours. Sheets should be larger than the size of Gelli plate you are using.
– Oil paint brushes (bristle or synthetic)-if you have them.
– Soft texture tools (like Catalyst, rubber brushes, squeegees, wedges)
– Gelli plate at least 8×10″
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.
