Take the next step in your gouache painting journey!
Join Liz for an immersive gouache painting class. Using a primary color palette you’ll work on your color mixing and brush work recreating two modern masterworks and an original piece of your own. The two modern masters paintings are still life fruits. The final week of class we’ll work from a photo reference (and transfer illustration) mixing and layering color based off of the influences of the prior classes. Not only will this be a class on color and painting but also using a reference and inspiration and making your work.

GOUACHE PAINT: Holbein 5 Color Mixing Set G741 or single tubes of Primary Yellow G652, Primary Magenta G651, Primary Cyan G654, Primary White G659, Primary Black G658
PALETTE(S): 12-well round palette, this can be porcelain or plastic-if you have a palette with 12 separate divisions that’s orderly and another shape that’s fine (we will be numbering our mixed colors) –A second palette for mixing, this can be any shape. I use porcelain palettes mostly, even plates (white porcelain ones from Target)
BRUSHES: Selection of your choice or your favorites. Suggested: Princeton Snap Rounds 2, 4, 6, Regular Filbert 8, Pointed Filbert 2, 4, 6
SURFACES: Your favorite watercolor sketchbook will do! Make sure you have room on your page for swatching, notes and art! Here are some of my favorites: Stillman & Birn Beta (softcover 8×10) 270gsm, Global Art Hand Book Watercolor Journal, both weights are good, 5.5×8.25, 8.25sq or 8.25×10.5
-You can use single sheets as well, some of my favorites are Arches or Fabriano Cold Pressed watercolor paper 140# or heavier. If you use sheets, cut them so you have a surface approximately 8×10 or a little bigger if you want clean edges. Scraps will be useful for color swatches and testing.
OPTIONAL EXTRAS: HB, 2H pencil, Purple painters tape, small clear ruler, Kneaded eraser, Soft white vinyl eraser, paper towel, two or three jars for water
