Gouache Mystery: Painting with a Limited Color Palette taught by Jana Komaritsa

Step into the world of atmospheric landscapes in this beginner-friendly gouache workshop. We’ll learn how to create depth and mood while keeping your composition and color palette harmonious and balanced. We’ll explore essential gouache techniques: layering, blending, opacity control, and apply them to paint a dreamlike landscape. Beginner-friendly!
Gouache supplies list: All class materials are available for purchase from our store Wet Paint Artists’ Materials. We are open 10-6pm daily at 1684 Grand Avenue in St. Paul, MN or online at www.wetpaintart.com.
NOTE : For this class we will focus on monochromatic/limited colors, we will paint with tints and hues of blue/gray/black/white.
- A basic of traditional (not acrylic) gouache set of tube or pan colors (a selection of 6 colors or more) Here are some good options of sets if you need to buy some: Talens Art Creations 12 color gouache set– inexpensive smaller tubes. This would be a good starter if you aren’t sure that you will like the medium. Stoneground Gouache 6 color half pan set – gorgeous paint that is handmade in Canada.
- Brushes. Average size #8-12, round pointed, flat. Bigger sizes can be used as well, smaller sizes for details.
- Painting surface suitable for gouache (watercolor or mixed media paper or boards, Claybord).
- Support Panel/pad back(if needed)
- Palette
- Water Cup
- Paper towel or cloth
- Masking Tape (if needed)
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.
