Gelli Print Collages taught by Molly Anthony

March 22 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

$50.00

IN PERSON

Inspiration for collage fodder can come from anywhere – junk mail, found papers, the insides of business envelopes – but sometimes the most interesting papers are the ones we make ourselves. And more often than not, the best papers are the ones we thought were a “mistake.” Gelli plate printing is a fun way to make unique and intriguing designs quickly and easily, but what do you do with the ones that you don’t like or you think were a “gel plate fail?” Tear them up and turn them into something else! These “mistakes” will become the inspiring starting point for a whole new pile of collage fodder for your art journals, planners or anywhere else you create collage. We’ll discuss ways to use them for abstract collages, how to cut them into shapes and decorate them with gel pens/paint markers and look at ways we can give these pieces of paper a whole new life.

Supplies to Bring:

gelli plate (any shape or size up to 8×10), a brayer, any stencils you have.

Shared use supplies include:

Some craft acrylic paint (if you’d like to use a different acrylic paint you may bring your own), Copy paper and some other various papers, a few gel plates, brayers and stencils.

Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.

Ticket Instruction: You must choose a quantity to activate “get tickets”. To pay for a class registration with a Wet Paint gift card, please call 651-698-6431

Molly Anthony is a writer and mixed-media artist and is also the co-facilitator for the MN Visual Journal Collective (a free monthly group for artists of all mediums hosted by Wet Paint). She loves exploring art in all forms and sharing her ideas with others, but through the pandemic and family struggles she learned the importance of using those practices for self-care. In her work and her teachings, she strives to embrace imperfection, focuses on process over product and is constantly looking for new ways to be curious about the world around her. You can find her artwork on Instagram at @mkranthony and on her website TheFoundArtWalk.com.
