Explore Collage with Tiny Doors +Imperfect Quilts taught by Molly Anthony

November 17, 2023 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

$50.00 Includes some shared supplies

IN PERSON

Collage is a great art form for engaging playfulness and evoking self-expression. But it can also be a tool we use to take care of ourselves. Using tiny doors and imperfect quilts as our inspiration, we’ll explore both the playful and inventive side of collage as well as the meditative and self-care benefits. First, we will look at some tiny door installation projects to spark our curiosity at what could be on the other side. Then, we’ll create our own imaginative doors using a variety of collage materials. Next, we’ll explore the world of imperfect, crazy and improv quilts as we wrap ourselves in the comfort of our creativity and snuggle up to the gentleness and beauty of imperfection. Using both paper and fabric pieces, we’ll create our own beautiful quilts within the pages of our own journals.

Please bring a journal or sketchbook to class, all other materials will be provided.

Molly Anthony is a writer and mixed-media artist and is also the co-facilitator for the MN Visual Journal Collective (a free monthly group for artists of all mediums hosted by Wet Paint). She loves exploring art in all forms and sharing her ideas with others, but through the pandemic and family struggles she learned the importance of using those practices for self-care. In her work and her teachings, she strives to embrace imperfection, focuses on process over product and is constantly looking for new ways to be curious about the world around her. You can find her artwork on Instagram at @mkranthony and on her website TheFoundArtWalk.com.
