Collaged Pet Portraits taught by Hannah Frick

April 19 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

$55.00 Includes supplies

Students will create a unique collaged portrait of their pet working from printed imagery. Materials and process will be introduced by the instructor with the majority of class consisting of work time and tricks/tips as we go. The collages will be on 11×14″ watercolor paper. For collage materials we will use magazines, acrylic matte medium applied with a brush (as our glue), and a combination of tearing scraps and cutting paper. Both individual questions/instruction and group critique/feedback will be offered throughout.

Participants should email an image of the pet they’d like to collage to hannahfrickart@gmail.com by Friday, April 17. Instructor will also bring extra pet images to work with if needed

Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.

Hannah Frick is a Minneapolis based artist who enjoys utilizing reused and repurposed materials. Her primary focus is creating custom made collaged pet portraits from scraps of paper. The medium of collage allows for unique portraits capturing a pet’s personality and oftentimes honoring their memory. Each piece is composed of interesting colors, shapes, lines, and patterns cut and torn from the pages of discarded magazines. This art medium is approachable and fun and allows the viewer to inspect the piece up close or to admire from afar with different effects.
