Collage Play in 3 Styles taught by Molly Anthony
August 7, 2025 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
IN PERSON CLASS
Collage is a relaxing, expressive and playful art form and there are so many ways to approach creating these pieces. In this class, we’ll focus on three styles of collage: patchwork, minimal and spontaneous.
- Patchwork – we’ll pull ideas from different forms of quilt and textile designs to inspire our own paper patchwork creations.
- Minimal – sometimes we get so lost in the idea of filling a page that we forget about the beauty and power of white space. We’ll use only a few pieces of paper per collage to not only embrace white space but also tap into the inspiration of limiting our supplies.
- Spontaneous – the idea of needing to put the perfect piece of paper in the perfect place can inhibit us from creating collages, so in this lesson, we’ll learn ways to work quickly and instinctively to build organic collages in the moment. We’ll play with snippet rolls and also talk about how junk journals provide the perfect medium for spontaneous collages.

Supplies to bring:
- A sketchbook or art journal with blank pages (you can also bring a junk journal, but you’ll need something with blank pages too).
- Any of your favorite collage materials
- If you have a favorite pair of scissors or adhesive, please bring those as well.
Some shared collage materials, glue sticks and scissors will be available for use in class.
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.
Ticket Instruction: You must choose a quantity to activate “get tickets”. To pay for a class registration with a Wet Paint gift card, please call 651-698-6431

Molly Anthony is a writer and mixed-media artist and is also the co-facilitator for the MN Visual Journal Collective (a free monthly group for artists of all mediums hosted by Wet Paint). She loves exploring art in all forms and sharing her ideas with others, but through the pandemic and family struggles she learned the importance of using those practices for self-care. In her work and her teachings, she strives to embrace imperfection, focuses on process over product and is constantly looking for new ways to be curious about the world around her.
