Multi-Session Class
6 Fridays, September 19-October 31 from 10am-1pm (no class October 17)IN PERSON
Explore your artistic curiosity and dip your toes into many different techniques and media in this six-part series. We’ll pull inspiration from our imagination and the natural world and combine it with collage, watercolors, drawing techniques and more on this enchanting journey through our sketchbooks and art journals. Our focus will be on creative play and experimentation as we engage with new supplies and look at old ones in a new light. And our goal will be to let go of perfection so we can make room for the amazing discoveries that come through messy exploration.
Week 1: Making collage fodder
Week 2: Using photos and magazine images as inspiration
Week 3: Matchboxes of curiosity
Week 4: Collage houses and buildings
Week 5: Exploring the abstract
Week 6: Making books using repurposed materials
Supply list – some shared supplies will be available in each class (we’ll go over the supply list in more detail for each class):
- Journal or sketchbook (needed for week 1)
- Drawing pen (needed for week 1)
- Scissors (needed for week 1)
- Markers/paint pens/crayons/etc (something to make marks and add color) (needed week 1)
- Watercolors and brush
- Adhesive (glue sticks will be available in class)
- Exacto knife and cutting matt (if you prefer that over scissors)
- Photographs and/or magazine images (some will be available in class)
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.

Molly Anthony is a writer and mixed-media artist and is also the co-facilitator for the MN Visual Journal Collective (a free monthly group for artists of all mediums hosted by Wet Paint). She loves exploring art in all forms and sharing her ideas with others, but through the pandemic and family struggles she learned the importance of using those practices for self-care. In her work and her teachings, she strives to embrace imperfection, focuses on process over product and is constantly looking for new ways to be curious about the world around her.
