Kids Create!: Batik for Ages 7-10 taught by Ellen Ferrari

Perfect for those who have aged out of out of Kids Create: for ages 2-6!
These open ended art classes are designed for children ages 7-10 on their own taught by early childhood art specialist, Ellen Ferrari. Each class will focus on one art making process. Ellen will use examples of artwork by iconic artists to make connections to professional artists who use these processes and introduce basic concepts, materials and terms. All materials provided (real artists’ paper, ink, paints and tools!) for several projects in each class.
This Class: Batik Discover the magical art of batik – creating dye resist designs on fabric with wax! Learn about batik tools and techniques. See artist made batik fabrics from Java, India, Australia and the United States. Use fabrics, dyes and wax – waxy Cray-Pas oil pastels – to create resist table cloth patterns and colorful scarf designs. Magic!
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.
