Multi-Session Class
Meets 3 Tuesdays, November 11,18 and 25 from 3-5:30pmIN PERSON
Meditative Watercolor: Building Patience, Calm, Creativity and Flexibility
From simple meditations to creative play, this class offers short explorations that can help you diffuse anger, find calm, outlast sadness, foster creativity, and cultivate joy…building both a positive mindset and painting skills. Short guided meditative skill-builders are followed by suggestions for using watercolor meditations to unleash your creativity. This class is a gentle invitation into the world of to watercolor for those new to the medium, and also an excellent way for experienced watercolorists to hit the reset button and return to “beginner’s mind.”
Week 1: Brush and Water Meditations: Guided meditations focused around specific ways to use a brush and subtle observations of water painted onto a paper surface.
Week 2: Paint meditations, Part 1: Guided meditations focused on watering down paint and wet-in-wet explorations
Week 3: Paint Meditations, Part 2: Guided meditations focused on noticing and controlling the texture of the painted surface, and on lifting paint

MATERIALS
- Paper: You can choose any type of watercolor paper, in a small size–no larger than 4″ x 6″
- Paint: We will use a single color of paint for the first class. You can choose any color.
- For later classes, I specifically recommend that you get
- Cobalt (anything) and
- Pthalo (anything), as these paints exhibit properties we will observe closely.
- For later classes, I specifically recommend that you get
- Brush: We will use a round brush in size 3, 4, 5 or 6 (your choice)
- You should also have:
- water (supplied in the classroom),
- a white cloth or paper towel, and
- something to use as a palette–a plastic lid or something similar is fine for this class.
STUDENT TESTIMONIALS
“I always learn from and enjoy the classes I take at Wet Paint and don’t always take the time to share my appreciation. I especially wanted to pass along my thanks for scheduling Jinjer’s Meditative Watercolor class. It was a great learning experience—lots of content and lots of fun. The time went by so quickly but never felt rushed. Jinjer is a very good teacher, has wonderful energy, and engages every participant. She has a great mixture of technique and spirit. I’m hoping her color theory or science of watercolor classes might be on the calendar in the future”
“Give it a 10, so great. Jinjer is so wonderful at sharing her craft and reminding us of being non judgmental. She made it an adventure in art as well as a learning experience about ourselves while having fun. I think we all were a little sad it was over today!”
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.
