Tuesdays: March 17 – 31st 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Rosemaling evolved in the various districts of Norway from 1750 – 1850. Telemark produced the largest number of painters, who painted scrolls and fanciful flowers. In this class we will focus on scrolls in Rosemaling and take it to the next level with cross over scrolls. During class students will paint a Telemark design with overlapping scrolls and discuss design, scroll structure, flower placement, and complimentary borders. We will also do some glazing techniques used in borders. Everyone is welcome, but you will find it beneficial if you have taken the Rosemaling: Brush Techniques class or other painting class where you learned basic brush strokes. Skilled painters can paint their own design in any style of Rosemaling, with assistance from the instructor as needed. If you have ever wanted to paint Telemark Rosemaling or develop your scroll skills further, this is the class for you. Painting will be done with acrylic paint.
