Silkscreen onto Encaustic DEMO with Jeff Hirst
May 14 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm CDT
IN PERSON EVENT
Jeff Hirst returns to Wet Paint for a demonstration of Silkscreen onto Encaustic! He pioneered the process in 2004 and has been teaching it to artists around the US and Canada since 2011. Hirst, a painter and a printmaker, developed the process with a desire to combine a fluid paint medium with a graphic print medium where the boundaries of paint and print collide and unify.
Hirst will demonstrate processes that include printing below and onto encaustic. The demonstration will cover using transparent and opaque color through printing onto encaustic as well as painting with encaustic paint. Examples of achieving complex color relationships will be covered as well. Hirst will be using R & F Pigment Sticks, R & F Handmade Paint, R & F Encaustic Medium, and R & F Encaustic Gesso during the demonstration.
Please wear masks during in-person classes and events at Wet Paint. If you are having any COVID or cold-like symptoms even if you have been vaccinated, please do not come to the class. Thanks!
