Rosemaling: Beginning Os Flowers taught by Julie Anderson
Multi-Session ClassMeets Tuesdays: June 22, 29, and July 6 from 7-8:30pm CT
June 22, 2021 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm CDT
Beginning Os Flowers: This is a beginning class for students who want to learn to paint Os flowers and leaves. 3 week class
Rosemaling evolved in the various districts of Norway from 1750 – 1850. The Rosemaling style of Os is from the western coast of Norway. One style of Os is known for its fanciful flowers and bright colors and thus, uses a different palette (colors) than other styles of Rosemaling.
Everyone is welcome, but you will find it beneficial if you have taken the Rosemaling: Brush Techniques class(es) or other painting class where you learned basic brush strokes.
This is a beginning class, however, skilled painters who want to advance their knowledge of Os flowers and leaves are welcome and will be encouraged to use pieces of original work or from the Vesterheim collection to construct flowers and assistance from the instructor will be available via email. Repeat students need to be aware there will be flowers they have painted before. Since the class is remote, students can paint with acrylic or oil paint.
3 weeks; topics each week: main Os flowers; secondary and filler flowers and leaves.
We will be in touch with class details via emails in the days leading up to the class.
