Pastels! Paint! Print! Series for ages 2-6 with Adult taught by Ellen Ferrari
August 2, 2021 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm CDT
IN PERSON CLASS
Wet Paint offers a series of simple, open ended art classes designed for children 2-6 years old with adult taught by early childhood art specialist, Ellen Ferrari. Each class will focus on one art making process. Ellen will use examples of artwork by iconic artists to make connections to professional artists who use these processes and introduce basic concepts, materials and terms. All materials provided (real artists’ paper, ink, paints and tools!) for several projects in each class. Register for individual classes.
Pastels! August 2
Meet members of the pastel family through four different artworks. Create hard and soft lines and shapes with stick charcoal. Blend lots of opaque colors with paper pastels. Discover the transparency of pan pastels. Draw with pastel pencils. Artworks by Emil Bistram and Paul Klee and others will provide inspiration.
Learn the basics of watercolor painting, starting with viewing works by watercolorists Kano Tsunenobu and Georgia O’Keefe. Experiment with paint and water to create light and dark colors. Learn to mix colors. Try watercolor overpainting. And end with using some unusual watercolor tools.
Explore printmaking – positive, negative, multiples – with a variety of shape stamps, stamp pads and a set of printmaking game cards. After viewing block printed artwork by Mary Azarian and Richard Stephens, incise a block and use printers’ ink, brayers and barens to print a run of six cards.
