Pastel Drawing Impressionism Style taught by Jana Komaritsa

Discover the beauty of pastel drawing through the expressive techniques of Impressionism. In this workshop, participants will explore how to capture light, color, and atmosphere using pastels. You will learn how to build vibrant layers, create loose and dynamic brush-like strokes, and develop a fresh, spontaneous approach. Beginner-friendly!

Note about materials: standard pastel list below, darker toned paper (lighter paper is possible too), soft or oil pastels can be used. I will work with soft pastels on dark paper. All class materials are available for purchase from our store Wet Paint Artists’ Materials. We are open 10-6pm daily at 1684 Grand Avenue in St. Paul, MN or online at www.wetpaintart.com.
Soft pastels supply list:
Set of soft pastels (with at least basic colors) such as Jackson or Jack Richeson
Dark Toned Pastel paper (Dark Blue or Black). Wet Paint sells single sheets and pads.
Smooth, sturdy surface to tape paper to (if needed)
Masking tape (to tape the paper to the surface if needed)
Any pencil and eraser
Paper towels or cloth
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.
