What’s a paint marker? –A fun acrylic based drawing tool suitable for many applications and surfaces! POSCA is Wet Paint’s number one brand, asked for by name!

Have fun learning drawing and painting techniques! You’ll want to add these practices to all your art applications, mixed media, visual journaling, sketchbook work and anything else you can think of!

SUPPLY LIST

SUBJECT MATTER: choose one or more every day object such as produce, knickknacks, shoes, even other art supplies or from a photo reference to work from.

POSCA brand paint marker. 1-3 of EACH SIZE . Get your favorite colors, there are no wrong ones! Get an assortment you think you’ll enjoy!

They come in Brush, Ultra Fine, Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad Chisel, Bullet and (optional) Extra Broad. You’ll only need the largest one if you’re going to work on a larger scale.  I do have a Extra Broad in white which I find helpful for mixing colors, but a chisel tip will work as well.

SURFACES:

Posca paint pens work on most anything but for this class I’d recommend you use a multi media surface or watercolor paper 140# or heavier.

Try a new surface or work in your favorite multimedia sketchbook. I like Stillman & Birn-all styles, Stonehenge and Global Handbook Watercolor Journals for mixed media. I used Stonehenge white drawing/printmaking paper (pads or single sheet cut down), Strathmore Acrylic paper (pads) and Fabriano 200# watercolor paper (cut down) for the sample images.

BRUSHES: any synthetic brush will do. Get a round shape and a flat.

Princeton makes RealValue Brush Packs. I have this set with turquoise handle with white bristles

One hard pencil for layout, H or 2H

Paper towels, Jar for water.

OPTIONAL: Painters tape (purple, delicate surfaces) if working on cut sheets of paper.
