Neocolor II Landscape: Style of Wayne Thiebaud taught by Liz Carlson

September 9, 2023 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

$48.00

IN PERSON

Learn the basics of this versatile crayon shaped medium (a Liz favorite!) as you create a land/crayon-scape inspired by artist, Wayne Thiebaud (another Liz favorite!)

“I love any medium I can use in a multitude of ways. With Caran d’Ache Neocolor II water-soluble wax pastel crayon I’ve been able to develop layers and energy in my art I don’t get with drawing or painting alone. It’s an immediate mark maker that’s satisfying, vibrant and versatile. It’s great for traveling, sketching and final works. I’ll show you my tips and tricks while we work from the inspiring landscape art of Mr. Thiebaud.

Wayne Thiebaud was an American painter known for his colorful works depicting commonplace objects—pies, lipsticks, paint cans, ice cream cones, pastries, and hot dogs—as well as for his landscapes and figure paintings.

Supply List:
Caran d’Ache Neocolor II 15 color set
Any additional colors you like, I’d recommend an extra white for mixing.

Stonehenge paper, one sheet cut to workable sizes (11×14 or smaller, save scraps for color swatches and testing techniques), Kraft color is my favorite, but anything will work.

Princeton Snap brushes (short handle- golden Taklon or white Taklon):
Filbert size 8
Round sizes 4, 6 or 8

Pencil
Kneaded eraser

Optional but highly recommended:
Caran d’Ache Fixpencil crayon holder 0012
Caran D’Ache plastic palette

Specific reference image will be emailed to participants prior to class.
