Monthly Book Arts: Replaceable/Swap-able Pages Binding taught by Bridget O’Malley

Have you ever wanted to be able to take out whole sections of your sketchbook and replace them with fresh pages? Now you can. This binding is based on two structures we’ve done before at Wet Paint– The “Sewn On Straps” binding and the “Secret Belgian Binding”. This structure combines the best parts of each of those books. The cover is held together with woven straps, and the individual sections can be slid in and out quite easily. This is a NEW class.
Classes have a limited space available and some fill quickly. Decisions about whether to cancel a class or add another session are typically made one week prior to the start of a class. If a class you are interested in is full we will have a waiting list and will contact you if a space opens up. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment (fewer than 4 registrations) all registrations will be promptly refunded.

Bridget O’Malley is a master papermaker. She worked from 1994-2017 as designer and production manager at Cave Paper Inc., a handmade paper mill specializing in natural-dyed flax papers.
In addition to teaching at MCAD, O’Malley offers book, paper, and print workshops around the country.
She studied papermaking with Timothy Barrett at the University of Iowa Center for the book research and production paper facilities. While there, she completed a five-year papermaking apprenticeship. Her artwork focuses on forms found in nature, and bringing those to life through the interplay of print, paper, and sculpture.
