Kids Create! for ages 2-6 with an adult: Japanese Fish Printing! taught by Ellen Ferrari
December 28 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am CST
IN PERSON CLASS
Wet Paint offers a series of simple, open ended art classes designed for children 2-6 years old with adult taught by early childhood art specialist, Ellen Ferrari. Each class will focus on one art making process. Ellen will use examples of artwork by iconic artists to make connections to professional artists who use these processes and introduce basic concepts, materials and terms. All materials provided (real artists’ paper, ink, paints and tools!) for several projects in each class. Register for individual classes.
Get hooked on gyutaku – Japanese fish printing. View the art of Joe Higgins, Doug Olander, and the children of Bristol Bay, Alaska and Japan. Then use newsprint, construction and tissue papers, water and brushes, and a wide variety of rubber fish – from small drum to large walleye – to print your own gyutaku.
Next Class in the Series:
Meet members of the pastel family through four different artworks. Create hard and soft lines and shapes with stick charcoal. Blend lots of opaque colors with paper pastels. Discover the transparency of pan pastels. Draw with pastel pencils. Artworks by Emil Bistram and Paul Klee and others will provide inspiration.
This is an IN-PERSON indoor class.
In keeping with the standards of other educational settings in our area, we are asking that students and instructors wear masks during in-person classes at Wet Paint. If you are having any COVID or cold-like symptoms even if you have been vaccinated, please do not come to the class. Thanks!
