Gouache is trending! What is it? How is it different than watercolor? In this monochromatic gouache foundations class you’ll discover the different properties of gouache painting and learn techniques to apply in sketchbooks and final work. With a simple palette you can focus on technique and having fun!
You’ll be a gouache expert after the three weeks of on line class work and some homework to keep you creating.
Please use Holbein brand Artists Gouache, Katsura Blue, Permanent White and Jet Black
Brushes: I use Princeton Snap series and Richeson Grey Matters, either will do.
Number 4 or 6 round
1/2 inch wash or stroke brush
Number 8 Filbert
Heavy watercolor paper, at least 140# cold press. I like 300# as well.
If you use sheets try Fabriano, extra white, cut into useable sizes for exercises and projects.
Or Fluid 100, 300 # cold press 5×7, 6×8, or 8×10.
If you’d want to use a sketchbook I’d recommend Pentalic Nature Sketch or Stillman and Birn Beta series
Pencil (2H or H)
Clear grid ruler
Porcelain watercolor palette (I like the flower shape) -you may want an additional palette for mixing larger quantities of color (I use an appetizer plate) Water spray bottle
