Embroidered Summer Floral Sampler taught by Nora Rickey
Multi-Session ClassWednesday July 7+14, 2021 5-7pm Central Time
July 7, 2021 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm CDT
Conjure summer flowers as you learn 6 embroidery stitches and create an original floral scene that is colorful and textured!
The stitches you learn in this class come in handy when creating different floral textures and flowers of all sizes and can be used in other embroidery projects.
Nora will demonstrate Satin, French knot, Bullion knot, Backstitch, Chain stitch, and Spider web stitches. You’ll have a chance to practice these stitches on a separate piece of fabric before using them to create your floral scene utilizing all six stitches learned in the class. This class will be broken up into two parts: the easier stitches the first week, and the harder stitches the second week. This will allow you time to practice your stitches in between class, and begin sketching up ideas for what to embroider. Nora will have a couple patterns available for you to copy to get you started on designing a floral scene.
Suitable for ages 12 through adult

I am a visual and performance artist and educator living in MN. Raised in an artistic household and trained in NYC, I didn’t come into my visual arts practice until I moved back to the sweet Midwest and began exploring and teaching myself fiber arts. Whether a hidden secret or on full display, I love to create piece that transforms the wearer into art. Currently, I work as a fiber arts instructor at Interact Center for the Visual and Performing arts, I curate Collaboret, and I embroider panties and make other art pieces.
