Basic Embroidery Stitch Sampler taught by Liz Carlson
February 13 @ 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm CST
Drawn to new media? Embroidery can be a colorful and meticulous yet rewarding new medium for you. Wet Paint now offers some basic embroidery materials and along with them a pair of Embroidery Workshops with our own Liz Carlson!
In this first of workshop you’ll learn how to prepare your embroidery hoop, a bit about your materials and a variety of foundation stitches useful for outlines, borders and lettering! (stitches may vary from the image shown)
Needles for embroidery work.
There are different styles to choose, I like Darner’s needles size 1-5, they are longer and I find easier to pull through a variety of materials.
An eight or ten inch Embroidery Hoop
A small pair of scissors, they should be sharp for clean trimming.
Nine or more skeins of embroidery floss, at least one for each stitch.
Floss Bobbins (optional)
Jacquard auto fade pen or a Stabillo marker in pale/light color
A Ruler (Six inch clear grid ruler is handy size)
NEXT EMBROIDERY CLASS – Further your embroidery endeavors in Liz’s the workshop, Mixed Media Embroidery on February 27th from 1-3pm. (description/registration coming soon!) Your stitching will be inspired by colorful backgrounds created with DynaFlow. A few new stitches beyond the Stitch Sampler class will be taught.
