Abstraction 101 taught by Anne Lifton
June 8, 2024 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
IN PERSON CLASS
What does it mean to be an abstract artist? What is the point and purpose of abstraction? Where did it start and where is it today? What tools can I use to help me get unstuck creating compelling abstract art?
This class will demonstrate a large variety of opinions on abstraction, starting with pioneers such as Hilma af Klimt and Paul Klee and taking us through the new attitudes and approaches that are emerging today influenced by digital tools, generative art, street art, conceptual art, and fictional design.
We will utilize exciting lesson plans derived from the Bauhaus and Basel School of Design, as well as approaches influenced by artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Tomashi Jackson. The goal of this course is to offer you a broad and powerful set of tools for you to develop more sophistication in your journey creating abstract art. Course is 3 hours in length and includes demonstrations and hands on work, allowing you to practice the concepts from the course so you can take them home with you!
