Shibori on Silk taught by Jean Manrique

Tuesday, January 29th 2-5pm FEE: $68 (includes some supplies) Shibori is an ancient Japanese technique that uses various resists (stitches, clamping, binding etc.) to prevent the indigo from penetrating the fabric, producing white designs on a blue background. Shibori was the method used to create surface patterns on cloth before printing was discovered. In our class we’ll be using some of these techniques on blank, white silk scarves to create our own original design.
