Inspired by the beautiful bounty of gardens in bloom? Learn the process of seeing and painting seasonal flowers from photo reference and from direct observation. Plan dynamic compositions. Explore a three-layer, four-value approach to watercolor. Practice efficient brushwork, create contrasts, consider negative space, and mix vibrant color. Build confidence and control with daily demonstrations, lots of practice, and individualized feedback. All levels welcome. Materials list and photo selection guidelines available after registration.
Saint Paul teaching artist and author Tara Sweeney has been creating award-winning watercolors for nearly forty years. TPT2 public television’s MN Original showcased her work https://www.tpt.org/post/artist-tara-sweeney/. Her picture book, A to Zåäö: Playing with History at the American Swedish Institute, is showcased in ASI’s exhibit, extra/ordinary February 29-July 5, 2020. She is professor emeritus with Augsburg University where she taught drawing and painting for 25 years. She earned undergraduate degrees in design and studio art from the University of WI, and an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
