Refine your skills in observational drawing through botanical studies using wet media of your choosing: water color, water color pencils, gouache or acrylic gouache.
We will draw from a variety of botanical sources using observational drawing as well as imagination. Spontaneity and improvisation are the methods of exploration in the creation of mixed media botanical drawings to create unique still life works. Emphasis will be placed on examining specimen up close and in an environment. Students in this course will develop and refine their observational drawing practice through close examination and drawing of a variety of plant specimens. The class will have the opportunity to create studies varying from timed observational contour drawings to fully formed experimentations. In addition to observational drawing techniques, the instructor will introduce a variety of experimental drawing and painting techniques. Botanical drawing is a valuable way to refine a drawing practice, to learn to see with a more focused lens, and to use drawing as a way to explore and learn about the world around.
An email with supply list and details will be sent to registrants prior to the class.
