By age 16, Rembrandt was already being revered in his hometown of Leiden for the incisive psychology of his portraits (see the above left etchings). That’s because faces are the center of our being – where 4 of our 5 senses are located. Faces are a barometer of everything from our health, to attractiveness, to personality – as revealed through the emotions our facial muscle activities signal to others.
In this exclusive Twin Cities lecture, CNN pundit and author Dan Hill* will share the secrets of his trade as a Facial Coder. He will divulge which subtle expressions correlate to everything from smiles to smirks, and explore the visualization of emotions in between happiness and contempt, (i.e. anger, fear, sadness, disgust, surprise) so you can broaden the sense of feeling in your figurative artwork.
You’ll never draw or paint the same way again after you hear this lecture, nor will you have to wonder about the feelings of the people you see on TV, in movies, or across the dinner table!
